Have you ever accepted a job and regretted it?

I hear it all the time from folks reaching out to me to keep them on the radar for opportunities. People tend to give it a year or two for optics and to make the best of it, but they know pretty quickly that they should have asked more questions before accepting the offer. They will next time, that’s for sure.

This can be anything from making sure the company is ready for change, to asking about how much of the role is tech integration vs new product development, to understanding the dynamics around how decisions are made, or even the nitty gritty of how many PowerPoint presentations are involved in the role. I’ve heard it all.

What would you recommend people ask before getting or accepting an offer?
