The #1 thing not to do during an interview

And what to do instead.

Do not start at the beginning of your resume and walk through the whole thing.

You’ll run out of time and lose their interest. It’s 20 minutes neither of you will get back.

What they want to hear is the answer to “what’s in it for me?” What in your background will help them achieve the company’s goals? Your job on the interview is to package yourself up to answer that question.

Picture them leaving the interview and immediately chatting with their colleague about how excited they are about you potentially joining. They’ll say a few things about you. Those are the things you need to tell them.
